One of the greatest sources of pride within our organization is our Junior Program! The Series believes that one of the utmost priorities in this sport is and always should be the next generation. We are committed to placing a strong emphasis on our entire Junior program, with an ultimate goal of graduating excellent, skilled, competitive drivers into the upper levels in the future. Although The Series does things a differently than most, the improvement that we saw in the junior ranks across our four events in 2017 was incredible and undeniable!

Here are the specs for our four junior divisions:

    **The Series - NextGen
    Ages: 5-7
    Engine: Clone with Red Plate
    Pipe: Small
    Gear: 19:60
    Weight 235lbs
    Maximum Tire Size: 34 1/2"
    - NextGen runs eight-lap heat races to set their Main Event starting grid.
    - NextGen main events are twelve laps.

    **Junior 1

    Ages: 8-10
    Engine: Clone with Green Plate
    Pipe: Small
    Gear: Open
    Weight: 275lbs
    - Junior 1 runs ten-lap heat races to set their Main Event starting grid.
    - Junior 1 Elite qualifies to set their Main Event Starting Grid.
    - Main Events are 20 laps.

    **Junior 2
    Ages: 10-12
    Engine: Clone with Purple Plate
    Pipe: Small
    Gear: Open
    Weight: 290lbs
    - Junior 2 runs ten-lap heat races to set their Main Event starting grid.
    - Junior 2 Elite qualifies to set their Main Event Starting Grid.
    - Main Events are 20 laps.

    **Junior 3
    Ages: 12-15
    Engine: Clone with Blue Plate
    Pipe: Small
    Gear: Open
    Weight: 320lbs
    - Junior 3 runs ten-lap heat races to set their Main Event starting grid.
    - Junior 3 Elite qualifies to set their Main Event Starting Grid.
    - Main Events are 20 laps.

We feel strongly that the four separate youth divisions were deliberately established to help nurture junior's skills as they progress through the ranks towards the senior divisions. Because of this belief, we do not allow Junior Drivers to "crossover" to run multiple divisions.

Kid Karts are ALWAYS welcome at The Series. We do not officially have "Kid Karts" on our roster, but if you bring them, we race them!

**NOTE: All Junior Drivers competing in the 2018 Carolina Cup will be required to submit a copy of their birth certificate at race #1 which will be kept on file by The Series. You will only have to do this once, we promise. Please bring a HARD COPY. Digital copies via cell phone will not be accepted this season. Plan accordingly. No exceptions. We are working diligently to maintain integrity in our Junior Divisions, and we thank you for your cooperation!

Happy Monday! I've gotten a SURGE of missed calls from unfamiliar numbers today... Just wanted to send out a friendly neighborhood reminder that I am unable to take calls on my cell during work hours.

I DO however have much more flexibility with text and email during the day, so you can feel free to text me at 704-999-1733 OR shoot an email to thekartseries@gmail.com any time and I will get back with you ASAP.

If you are calling for anything The Series related after 6pm and I miss your call, please leave me a voicemail with your name and call back number and I'll get back with you as soon as I get free!

Thanks y'all... Looking forward to an incredible 2018 season!

It's been brought to our attention that there has been recent controversy surrounding age and eligibility requirements for Junior Drivers in this 2018 season. We would like to remind you that ALL The Series sanctioned events (including Carolina Cup and Wild West Tour) adhere to traditional age and eligibility rules as outlined below:

    Age Requirements:

**MAX Age Allowable as of Jan. 1st, 2018 Per Division:
    NextGen - 7yrs
    Junior 1 - 10 yrs
    Junior 2 - 12yrs
    Junior 3 - 15 yrs

**Junior Drivers who are the maximum age in their division as of January 1st, 2018 will still be able to compete in said division thru the completion of the 2018 season, even if they have a birthday putting them over the max age during the season.

**Borderline aged Junior Drivers may elect to "run up" a division at any point during the 2018 Carolina Cup. However, once said driver has moved up a division, they may not move back down under any circumstances.

**"Borderline aged" is defined as any driver under the minimum age as of January 1st, 2018, but who will turn the minimum age at any point before December 31st, 2018.

**NOTE: All Junior Drivers competing in any 2018 The Series event will be required to submit a copy of their birth certificate at race #1 which will be kept on file by The Series. Please plan accordingly. No exceptions.

Are there any other rules for amateur? Or is like most series where people who have been running for years with leather jackets can run it? Thanks

Well, we can tell you we're definitely not like most other series! #thenewstandard

Amateur Requirements for 2018 are as follows:

    - Amateur entrants may not have won a past championship
    - Amateur entrants may not have won over $750 in a single event
    - Amateur entrants may not enter any other "Pro" or "Elite" classes
**Junior winnings and championships do not count against Amateur requirements.

We ask that our Amateur entrants act with integrity when registering for this division.

A question. We have a driver who turned 12 in Feb and is still eligible to run Junior 2 according to age but also eligible to run Junior 3. Would he be able to run both classes or will we have to pick 1 class and stay there this season. Reason asking is this is his first year in flat karts after 2 seasons in Champs. Thanks,

Ekite, thanks for the interest! We do not allow junior crossovers, he will have to choose which division he would like to run. Check out post #5 in this thread for all the details on Junior age eligibility and rules. Hope to see y'all on the 24th!

    Happy Humpday y'all!

We are working diligently with our team of esteemed amateur meteorologists to monitor the weather for this weekend. We will be announcing our final game plan no later than Thursday, March 22nd @ 3pm.

So much work has gone into the preparation of The Series | Carolina Cup - Turn 1, and we have been completely overwhelmed by the response! We currently have DOUBLE the pre-entries we had for ANY of our events in 2017, and our reserved parking is nearly sold out. Please know that if there is ANY way to get the event in this weekend, we'll get it in. We want to race as much as you do! However, we also want to be respectful of your time and the resources it takes to get to our events.

Stay tuned to our facebook page for all the latest updates: fb.com/thekartseries #trustuswereamateurs #thenewstandard

After consulting with The Staff and the good people at Offical Liberty Raceway Park, we've made the difficult decision to postpone our 2018 season opener. At this time, the weather forecast shows 50% chance of rain starting at noon, with a jump to 80% at 3pm, and finally to 100% at 8pm. With racers and teams planning to make the haul from Georgia, South Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky to name a few, we simply couldn't in good conscience drag you all here with that sort of forecast. Our most sincere apologies for any inconvenience this causes.

We are currently working hard to come up with a makeup date, and hope to have that announced by the end of the weekend.

If you have pre-registered or have reserved parking you have a couple of options: You can either request a refund by sending an email to thekartseries@gmail.com, or if we don't hear from you, we will hold your pre-registration and/or parking reservation and can apply it to EITHER Carolina Cup Turn 2, or the Turn 1 makeup date.

Feel free to comment here or text Alexia (704-999-1733) if you have any questions, we'll do our best to respond as quickly as possible! Thank you for your patience and understanding... Trust us, we're as bummed as you are. #thenewstandard
