Need Comer p-50 builder

I have a stock comer p-50 and would like to get porting and head work done to hop it up a bit.

Anyone done work on this motor before?

Jeff

leave the motor alone, tune the carb to your very best or find pro help, install new tires, feed your kid a red bull before the race and tell him his motor is tweaked, I'll bet you he'll win the race.

MISI or Mike David are the two I was told of. I have one that Mike did for me. Send me a pm if you want his info.

Re: Need Comer p-50 builder

I'm going to use the motor for a piston port heavy sprint club class.

Just dont want to run a kt

I have a Iame swift JICA motor but it has the low stall clutch.

With the comer I can use a normal clutch.

Re: Need Comer p-50 builder

Just one question, how do you expect to be competitive with a 50cc engine? I would much prefer to spendmymoney on a clutch than in port and head work. JMO

Re: Need Comer p-50 builder

P-50 is a nice 100cc piston port, not the c-50 50cc jr motor.

mxjeff, what rules do you have to ahere to? The old WKA ones? There are great builders all over here, and some are touted better for building 'open' type stuff if you have minimal rules. Search through this 2-cycle forum for engine builder and you'll find this has been discussed a lot.

Re: Need Comer p-50 builder

Well I have made a change to go with a k-71 with lite porting and 380a carb.
I have had real good luck with my Iame motors.

The comer would be harder to get parts for over time.
My rules are just pump gas and 100cc the rest is open.

Re: Need Comer p-50 builder

I also missed the P, sorry for the misunderstanding. Some parts from the Comers can get difficult to get since they started to run water cooled engines. I think Parlla's has many more parts available here and in Europe too. Apart from that last time I got partd for my JICA 100cc Comer the price from the dealer was not good at all, though some years ago I could get parts for the clutch and intake from TS Racing.

Re: Need Comer p-50 builder

With the price of a new P50 for $350 on Ebay, you can buy two of these motors and part one out if needed. That would be cheaper than one new stock Yamaha. I also have got parts for the P50 from grand products. It has been a good motor motor so far and the quality is much better than the Yamaha. My engine builder loved the inside of this thing.

Re: Need Comer p-50 builder

Some guy on ebay has had a lot of brand new p50's sitting out there for a couple of years now. $325/ea I think. Killer engine for the $.
K-71 is good.

mxjeff, I take it you guys use a fuel sniffer? Or how do you tech fuel? I like the 'pump gas only' rule. We have a problem with ethanol gas up here, but I'd run 100cc xyz gas glass no problem. Sad story is we have someone to do full WKA/IKF stock 2T tech, and no racers.

Yes, about two weeks ago. Here's a link to my pictures. Why do you ask, and/or, how did you know?

Thanks for the offer; I'll go anytime you want. I can't drive myself, bad eyes, and it's 10 miles out of your way, but if you want, I'm up for it. Liberty Hill, (my address anyway) is just north of Leander on West Highway 29. They are racing daytime this part of the year so that makes it a little more convenient.

We race on sunday the 15th and we are running a double main race.

I'm trying to get a motor together for the race.
I will let you know for sure and I can pick you up and drop you off.
Being able to pick your brain would be worth the extra miles.
Jeff
