Anyone interested in forming a group to organize existing LO206 racers and assist new racers interested in fair and relatively inexpensive kart racing? Post your thoughts and comments here or email me directly. motokid49@aol.com Thanks, Kerry Irwin
Good question. It doesn't matter where the club would be based. A web site could be set up to keep people informed, or maybe we could get Bob to give us a spot on his web site?

You can't ask for more help than that! Now lets see if we can organize some of these LO206 guys that are spread out around the country. If the racers would email me with their names and location and we could begin. Thank you Bob for the spot! motokid49@aol.com
we are starting a 206 class at our local track next year....I may not do a lot of posting but i do do a lot of reading here on bobs....I will be checking in with you a lot

One of the things I would like to see is an agreement between all LO206 racers regarding one set of rules. That way if someone wanted to visit your track or any track they could just pull in and race knowing they had the same equipment as everyone else.
What tire rule do you have for your track? Kerry
We ran one this last season in a stock class with a black plate. It was a mixed class with clones, More than half the races we were the fastest kart on the track. We were the only one running a 206.
I have a new LO206 and will loan it out for running in the Central Florida area. Fruitland Park, Dirt Devils, on the west coast, and other tracks on the east coast.

I have one and love it...Just hope I can get more people in My area to get one.
That is what I am hearing from LO206 racers all over the country. They love the engine but can't figure out why so many guys are holding on to their flatheads. The LO206 is the best engine package out there.

Now that is a great deal! A good way to introduce the engine to people that have never seen one.

Should be pretty close to a clone with the plate. I think they are pretty even with the flathead without the plate.
We race IKF and I would like to see two local option classes that accomodates the LO206 (stock), FH and Animal with 3-hole restrictor. An Adult class at 360lbs. and Junior class at 340lbs.. The idea being to have classes that have increased kart counts.
I think the LO206 is a terrific package and the durability should be outstanding. We have an 3-hole restricted Animal for the kid that ran 18 races with only valve adjustments and carb cleanings. It was smoking a little on the starts last races but still making good power.
On our dyno my decent Dover that runs very strong shows 8.6hp. The 3-hole restricted Animal made 8.8hp. Can't compare the LO206 but talk is they have similiar numbers. In 2008 AKA in Phoenix had the class with flatties and the restricted Animal. In the end the races winners were 50/50. Half for each. Their track is a very fast 1/5 mile.
I had Jim at Faster Motors quote me a complete LO206 package with everything required to bolt on and go racing. Motor, mount, header, clutch, muffler, filter, throttle linkage and freight to Albuquerque for under $800. If it can compete with the flatty and restricted Animal it would be a no-brainer to entice more racers to the sport.
I am glad We now have this thread to discuss this package ! Why couldn't it be a sticky in the animal section though ?
I didn't want to rock the boat because Bob was good enough to give us a place to discuss the LO206......and I keep forgetting to send my $20 check for a premium membership (well worth it). Maybe after I send in my membership upgrade I'll request our own category be listed right below "Animal". I think that would be a good spot because you know some of the LO206 guys will move up to modified animals or even run two classes.

Individual topics are usually created to meet the demands of heavy participation traffic, not to meet personal requests. Over the years many, many personal requests have been made for untold numbers of special interest topics to be created. Had those requests been met, there would be now hundreds of more topics, some with little to no participation.
I would suggest that y'all use what you have, to its full benefit, and encourage fruitful participation by all interested parties..................and let nature take its course.
It is a great package and so often people look at the short term ie; cheap way out But,If You look at the durability and long term return of investment....not to mention the power of this engine..it makes it a great choice.

Paul,
Might need to get together if you are going to go to Daytona. There will be LO206 racing on the big track as a local Option. My wife runs one and will be on the track, I may have a kart you can put it on and send someone to the grid...
I raced in a class called Competitive Edge last season at Peachstate. In fact, we had two classes--one at 375lbs and one at 400lbs. We ran a box stock Animal on gasoline and we had around 12 entries every points race. In my opinion we put on some of the best shows of the night in our class. This class came about before the introduction of the LO206 and it went to Box Stock Project engines for this season. I didnt run with them this year, I just converted my Animal to methanol and ran Super Heavy.
I think the LO206 would be a great option for ANY track to run.

On a 1/5 in open practice with a crappy set up I ran right with WKA flatties so I think with a little dyno time a plate and or added weight could allow them to run together.
Glad this sticky for the sealed animal made it to the animal section...Thanks,Bob

Yeah Bob, it was a pleasant surprise to see this as a sticky.
I just wanted to thank everyone for the positive comments. There are a lot of pockets of 206 racers out there with more and more calls every day.
I just talked to turkey trot raceway this morning, for example. They had a successful year and are looking to add classes for 2010.
I'm on my way to get a couple of cavities taken care of (sucks) but wanted to let everyone know that we've got some great promotions coming out shortly on the 206 program that will make it even more of a value.
The Junior 206 will also hit the streets at the end of this month. Based off of the LO206, this will feature the same sealed short block system with a PVL Ignition Module @ 4,100 rpm and a longer slide/locking cap system to control power. The complete package with a Green air filter and Max Torque clutch will MAP price under $500.
Thanks for the link. Let's see....you can adjust the valve lash, move the clip on the needle in the carb, adjust the idle and low speed mixture screws, clean the air filter, change the oil, any spark plug, and any pump gas between 87 and 92 octane and that's about it.....I love it.
