Re: New Vega?

Sean:

I think you are right on the issue of legality. I would also think that this would only apply to WKA state and national races. It would be left up to the individual tracks for Saturday nite shows.

Re: New Vega?

One thing I will say, I really like Vega tires and have heard great things about these new ones. We run the WKA FDDS series in Florida. If they are legal for sure I want a set. If they are not I would be a little mad about purchasing them for a race, then not being allowed to run them.

So again I ask, if the ship out on July 28th how can they be legal for use. They have not been avalible to me or anyone I know for 60 days.

Sean,

They have been shipping, but place your order with TS Racing and ask to be sure.

They won Stock Medium at the April King of Clay and 2nd in stock heavy. The win and second are right but it my have been Lite and Medium.

I have a customer who's son has racked up 20 wins so far this season. That took more than 60 days.

They have been WKA legal for over a year based on what I was told.

I have some that we received in early '09.

I guess it is sort of like my Droid X. I got mine 3 weeks before the release date and I don't know anyone at Verizon to pull strings. It just came. I did have a pre-order in.

I think if you ask Troy Collins he will tell you he had a set just show up about 8 to 10 weeks ago. It may have been longer.

Hope this helps,
Randy

Re: New Vega?

I have been running the MBS. They have been out for a while, they have the Yellow label. The new ones are the MBH with the red leabel according to the TS web site.

Dont get me wrong not complaining just trying to make sure they are legal for my use before I buy them. I spoke with the the director for the FDDS this morning. He was not even aware they where avalible.

Re: New Vega?

Having them "show up" at someones door "unexpectedly" does not mean they have been available to the general public. Of course, someone has to do the testing in order for the manufacturer to know how good they are. My thanks to all the "testers", whoever you are.

Re: New Vega?

That dont seem right,July 23 is when most companys got their shipment so 60 days should be WKA legal at about Semptember 23, or am I missing somthing here? Just becouse some racers have been testing the tire does not mean they are avaiable to the public.

Correct, at a WKA National Series. And I would think the WKA would base that off of TS racing info as to when they had them available since they are the importer. Which is why Randy suggested contacting them for an order. And I'm pretty sure this isn't the first big shipment of them. Just the first shipment that there has been interest in.

A Divisional series would be up to the race director. What did he say?

Re: New Vega?

There is no dip.
Randy, the tires you got back in 09 are not the same tire as available now with the Red Vegas. And i know you know that but others may not.
These tires are suppose to compete with the stones, but from what ive seen with the actual TS test at a local track, its still up to who does the best job of chemical application.

Re: New Vega?

I saw the below information on the WKA website:

Vega MBS Yellow, MBH Red both legal
this Saturday at Carnesville
07.28.2010 – Beginning with the Palmetto Speed Shop Grand Nationals WKA Speedway Dirt event this weekend at the Georgia Karting Komplex in Carnesville, Ga., both compounds of Vega 6” tires are legal for competition.

Vega offers two compounds in the 6” market, the MBS and MBH tires. Racers may run either the softer MBS Yellow tire for soft, wet tracks, or the harder MBH Red tire for hard, fast tracks.

The MBS Yellow and MBH Red tires are easily identified by their colored labels. Both compounds are available in all the required sizes for both right and left sides.

For more information, check with TS Racing at 352-793-9600 or your local Vega dealer.

Re: New Vega?

Now that is just funny!! I talked with Jayson Brown the race director for the dirt series on Monday, he informed me that the new MBH red Vega would not be allowed in this race. He also told me that the 60 day rule would be in efffect.

Re: New Vega?

Awesome tire we got the pole in superheavy(17 entries) at the gulfcoast firestone tri state series, I got the tires the day before the race so with a little more time to do the proper prep work, I believe these tires are gonna be winners. We ran the left sides with stones on the right and won Sr.champ and won super heavy, These are gonna be awesome tires.

Re: New Vega?

He said he had Vegas on the lefts with stones on the rights. Id say that just favors the stones as being the better tire.

Re: New Vega?

Well I got the tires the day before the race so I didn't have time to properly prep them or let them cure, So they were to inconsistent thats why I didn't race them, But I did turn my fastest times of the day on the reds.

Re: New Vega?

Ill race whatever tire i turn my fastest times with, only makes sense. So why would you take the fastest tires off and put slower ones on? Something dont add up, we arent getting the whole story.

The Red's like to be treated on the inside but not with anything really harsh.

The Mint does a good job as a conditioner and the PRW-Sapphire is an excellent Pre Race Wipe.

We have run 3 - 20 lap features in one night, On the same set of tires. Won all three with no fall off.

These tires do like to cure. If you got them this week the will be better next week, if you haven't used anything really harsh.

Hope this helps,
Randy

Thats the point I was trying to make, The tires were fast and will be even faster with the proper prepping procedure I was just trying to give people on here some feed back on the tire. All in all the new vega is a good tire. jmo

It is bad that writing makes it so hard to put expression in what a person writes.

I was try to reinforce what you said and add a little more.
All the best,
Randy
