Doesn't seem to matter how far from Wisconsin we get as they seem to be the most loyal racers in the country! I have to wonder if there's a suitable building in Wisconsin somewhere?
I've long thought a race in WI would draw a ton of racers...there's a lot of em up there that drive an awfully long way to go racing in the winter. I know Nuttal tried something a while back and it was a flop, but his costs were astronomical and it catered to the BCT as opposed to the dirt racers in the state.
I'm sure there's buildings - manufacturing and retail these days is pretty well gone around here.
anderson would be awesome there s the old walmart and the oldlowes building s empty i miss the indy indoors been outa of racing since 2001 and getting back in slowly
jeff there are poles at the hog barn in columbus and there were poles at the old grocrey store in Indy infinity i think it was called. you could make it work...lol
that infinnity or old place had a massage therapy to.lol.and pool tables,i ran there a few times it was ok,just a little small.had good pit areas to.pc
Maybe we could race in my shop... 40'x120', 2nd floor, hardwood floor. We ran 4 or 5 karts at a time up there, tons of fun, no traction. Too much junk in the way now.
Yeah, I know anything could be made to work... but I'm looking for the "perfect" place.
When we raced in the old (east pavilion) building at Indy it had poles on 40' centers and an asphalt floor. At the time we wished for dirt and no poles. Then we moved into a smaller building (north-west pavilion) with poles on 24' centers (too small, too tight). The new building is built on 50' centers but they won't allow us to use it.
Ed Clark used the east pavilion, that is the building they tore down, then they built a new building (bigger and better) but won't let us use it.
If I get something going I most likely will have Burris tire rules.
Looked at a local building today... bigger and better than the building we were using in Indy (NW Pavilion). Has a few inconveniences, including a tile floor (not sure how that would work) plus poles on 38 ft centers. 500' track (touch less than 1/10th mile).
Have plent of places in anderson to run depends on the spot.. Both the old lowes and walmart are tough spots but if he has done his checking there are plenty more places out there. Might also look at muncie buildings if you don't know who to get ahold of in muncie..
70 degree weather for sat, race in parking lots.as many laps as u can get till the cops show up.lol.then have one as a decoy and run it down the street so cops will chase him.make sure the decoy is a run what u brung shifter kart.jeff with any luck u will find a place to hold a few races.pc
My son says he has been helping a guy that is renting a building at the Hendricks Co Fairgrounds in Danville Indiana..they are setting up an indoor RC track...they get the building from now until march..he said looks like there are additional buildings there also..just fyi.
