8.5 to 1 give and take a little based on head gasket thickeness, piston pop up and crank stroke.

Who know where you can get "regular" gas without Ethanol in it? Can you get it for off road use, IE farm co-op etc?

We have some stations that have it. You just have to shop around. You can buy race gas (it's expensive though)

Jimbo, I was thinking boat, tractor or aviation gas without Eth in it. I know you can get higher octane gas at the airport without eth, but not the low octane rating.

Hey Dom, I can get you some 87, 93, or higher octane WITHOUT ETHANOL here where I live. Just let me know how much you need for Daytona.
Have you heard any news about the 4-cycle classes at Daytona ? Are they still going to run the Clones and Animals together ?

Dom,
There is a Ayerco station about 10 minutes from your buddy Randy Fulks house that sells 87 octane that is ethanol free. We use it and it passes Digatron test very easily.
I am sure you could sweet talk him into grabbing you 10 gallons

Our website should be launching in the next 48 hours but our 206 engine videos are up and running on Youtube.
Just do a search for Briggs & Stratton Racing.
I would love to hear feedback and my upfront apology for my nasally voice. I spent 4 years of high school with a permenant broken nose from wrestling and football. If only I could take it back! lol Nah, it was worth it.

Might have to do that! The Brain-E-ak polititans in Florida mandated all fuel for road use to have 1 to 10% ethanol in it. I have a 1965 Mustang that I have been puting AV gas in to keep the seal from breaking down.

Good News! Check out the WKA's Pit Board in the list of forum categories. The LO206 has been added to the the Daytona Dirt races with $250 to win. This is a giant leap forward for the LO206 and karting in general. Good job WKA!

Re: 2010 LO206 Racing Club
What about briggs dealers they can reseal motors. If we start polishing, line boring, decking we are right back where we started. How can you make sure the motor is stock without tearing down. there are cams that will spec as stock. Not trying to to be difficult, our club is thinking about Lo206 however we want to keep them stock.

The motor cannot be resealed. As long as the seal is intact the bottom end is stock. The only tech items would be the head and carburetor. If an engine is suspect you can send it back to Briggs and Stratton and they will tech it for free. Briggs has a web site with good info on this engine that you should check out.
Also, Briggs just just reduced the price on the LO206 and you also get a $50 gift certificate. I ran this engine the whole season this year and only changed the oil. I plan on running it again next year. I don't know if I can get 3 season's out of it, but I'm going to try!
If you have any questions at all post them here. There are quite a few experienced LO206 racers that will be happy to help you out. Plus, Dave Klaus the director of racing at Briggs and Stratton checks in from time to time to personally respond to questions....pretty cool, huh?
Your group will be happy with the LO206. I have yet to meet a LO206 racer that is not 100% satisfied with the engine. Kerry

Re: 2010 LO206 Racing Club
The motor is designed to be run as it comes (right out of the box)
It's simple enough to seal the head.
As far as that goes the blower housing or anything else you want sealed can be done quite easily also.
I have been sealing them here (locally) for clubs at no charge if they buy the motor from me. That way i know that nothing has been modified.

Re: 2010 LO206 Racing Club
The spec tire is a good idea if you do not get a lot of traveling racers. They may not make the trip if they have to buy a different tire.
This problem is easily solved by adopting the CIK tire chart and selecting the medium or hard compound groups.
Each manufacturer builts a tire for each catagory and they are set for 3 years. This allows every supplier to sell into the class and it keeps the tires allowed all very competitive.
The benefit of a spec tire is so that you don't have to worry about finding the fastest tire for a given track or changing weather. It requires a lot more chassis work to maintain times as the season changes but it does not cost competitors more money.
Any one who says that a spec tire costs more money is simply not being fair.
We are all racers and like certain brands and if our brand is selected well then spec anything might not be so bad.....but if I have to change well then forget it.
I think we need to consider that we are really trying to keep the cost of entry level karting down to attract new people to the sport not dictate to the karters already here.
We need to realize the we are competing for recreation dollars in very tough economic times. People are being very selective with their purchases and they want the most value they can get.
The LO206 program with a spec tire delivers value to the karter better than anything I have seen so far in the past 15 years.
Later.....

Re: 2010 LO206 Racing Club
At least with the spec tire program you only need three sets of tires.
1 - Not prepped for hard warm track with rubber.
1 - Prepped to about 45-50 duro for medium track conditions.
1 - Prepped down to 30-35 for the cool damp track.
Only $700 with rims before the cost of dope and cutting .
Just about the same as not having spec.
The only way spec would work for everyone would be if there is no dope or cutting and that is not going to happen.
Spec tire program would only put a restriction to the class that does not need any.

That's not a bad example of why a Spec Tire Would work! A $700 Ceiling is better than an unlimited ceiling of tires.

In My area ( assuming it's a local club) 2 -sets would work with one being "doped" to around 20.

Has anyone any experience with mixing the LO206 with Stock Flatheads in races? We don't have the kart counts to justify a single LO206 class.

Re: 2010 LO206 Racing Club
I ran against animal heavies but not flatheads. They had an open tire rule, and I was running our club's sportsman rules (noram 2 shoe clutch and un-doped burris ss33s). I was only 2 tenths slower than the feature winner and actually passed & beat 2 of the them...I bet a 206 could stick with a flathead no problem.

yes... I ran the LO206 most of the year (with my dad motokid49) and they always started animals in front of the flatheads and scored seperate. ALL animals were lumped together(LO206 and regular animals). We were just about ran over on starts but once up to speed they are VERY close.
Late in the year I bought a flathead so I would have more people to race against as well as planned on running some indoor races. My lap times were very close to what they were with the LO206 and the main difference was my setup.
This past weekend we ran all together once again and I actually caught up to 2 animals (one was the old man with the LO206) in the heat (wrecked out in the feature) and one flathead in the feature ran down 2 animals passing them but faded backwards again.
An LO206 and a GOOD flathead are quite close except for starts / restarts. I don't care what dyno's are saying - on the track they are damn close!
P.S. I'd much rather run the LO206 - I just like racing more than 3 other people. I'd love for more people to see the light!

Re: 2010 LO206 Racing Club
Ok the plan is finished!
Greco Daytona Enduro racing-
I will be in the 360, 385, LM and one LO206 race.
My brother Al, will be in both LO206 races.
My wife will not be able to make it... so, I have a kart for a medium build person that has a LO206 on it, PM me if you have a driver looking for a seat in the LO206 races. During the LM race I will also have my LO206 available for use if someone want to give it a go.
