Re: changes to the AKRA rules for 2010/question for pitcrew68, Dan from pulse

Guys, ya all need to quit arguing, this is a forum where people come to ask questions and learn. Getting into the gray areas of the rules isnt helping anyone.
If you have a legit question and you dont like the answer, PM Jimmy. This nonsense is getting ridiculous about who does what and who can do this.
Lapping the valves in not considered cheating and is legal. Removing the screw to have it teched is not cheating and is legal.
Now lets act like gentlemen here so the new racers can learn about karting instead of driving them away from all the name calling and keyboard fights.
By the way, its worthwhile to see Jimmys tech procedure, or at least see the tech being done by Jimmy or 1 of his tech men. You can and will learn a lot.

Re: changes to the AKRA rules for 2010/question for pitcrew68, Dan from pulse

I think the only gray area is created by those who always try to have an unfair advantage, and that's exactly the worst thing to teach new drivers, that either they bend the rules themselves or they find someone to do it for them or if not they will be in the back of the pack The problem here is many people hate being told the truth, and we are not talking anymore about the local low entry class, at this moment many of the Big Dogs are also racing in the Box Stock class and the purses keep growing too, so it is nothing to keep hidden from pubkic knowledge so some get advantage of a majority that were just looking for a cheap class to race at.

DLogan Well, I'm sure glad you know how I check the bore. Sure relieves my mind knowing you have seen how I do it so I won't have to explain it to anyone else, It's not really that hard, This thread was started by cyclone to ask Dan or me a question. It amazes me how many people keep something going for no apparent reason. I answered his question along time ago.

I should say thanks and sorry for all the attacks you received, I never considered how such a simple question could pull up such strong opinions/emotions. We will always disagree on certain subjects as racers but I would hope we could do it with professionalism and respect, There is a thread on the 2 cycle post where 2 builders had a very diffferent opinion on motor results and the respect they had for each other was very apparent.. maybe we can learn from these gentleman ( the thread is about the old style yamaha jugs having a performance advantage) Thanks to everyone that offered their opinion its time for this thread to die..ron

Yours

he asked a question and if you wanted to post so badly,
tell us why you won't answer the question.
his question was valid.
see when someone asks a question on the forums you are the first to answer most of the time, and always the one calling names.
now dlogan asks pitcrew68 a question?????? and he won't answer it.

Well said.

Racers...the idea of tech is to catch cheaters, not DQ for variations in manufactures tolerences or send a guy packing who has never had their motor apart or who is just doing routine maintenence. The performance gains available on these motors from all of the areas mentioned so far in this thread would be negated on the track by a multitude of varables, if they were even measurable in the first place. For 99% of us, tires, chassis set up, and driver performance offer much more potential for real gains on the track.

By the way...Did some one say Jugs? I volunteer to tech all jugs!

Mewhorter, I sent you a pm

Completely agree. Some people need to accept that there can be people that are better than you at something, you can be better than them at other things, not necesarily at racing. If you need to spend much more or interpret the rules your own way to beat someone that means that someone is better than you, very plain and simple. I have shared the tracks with guys that now are some of the best drivers in the world, I accepted they were better than me, and I don't feel bad for that. They are pros, some of them make millions of dollars a year for racing, that's their job, but I'm still much better than them at my job and I don't think their job is more important than mine, so where's the problem? You can't win all the time at anything. That's life.
